We had the best time yesterday with Kyndals soccer. Overall soccer hasn't been going so well. Kyndal hasn't been interested hardly at all, so she misbehaves at times, and we have had some drama. Well we told her a few weeks ago that we would pay her for getting a goal or for an assist. We also told her that for every time that she wasn't listening to her coach we would take away a quarter. She has been really motivated by her money lately as we have been giving her a kind of allowance and she has had goals for saving her money. It was also not just about her getting a goal but just trying to help her to want to try in soccer. We praised her lots for all of her chasing of the ball as well. Well we haven't had to take any money away, it was a few good weeks. Then last night she got her fist goal!! She ran with the ball all the way down the field and nearly had it taken away at the end, but she got it and kicked it into the goal. She was just so surprised and excited that she looked like she was going to cry. It was about the cutest thing that I have ever seen. The look on her face was worth anything!! It made me tear up to see that amazement and accomplishment that she felt for herself! Well after that she scored another 2 goals and an assist. The others she wasn't shocked at all just confident. It was just so great!! So she earned $7 and a trip to DQ as well. It was such a great time at soccer!! What a girl she is!!!
As well Elliette has gotten into the habit of being a backseat driver. She tells us where to go, to go faster and if she thinks that we missed something that she thinks we should have done. Well she was lecturing Paul driving last night and so he asked her
'How old are you Elliette'
'3' she says
'And how many years of driving experience do you have'
'SOOOOO MANY' she says in her little defiant voice. It was so funny there was no possible reply to that. She is quite sure of herself that little girl.. What a character!! I am a lucky mother!!
Ellie is so cute!! That's a funny reply. Last year for Macartney's first year of soccer we told her that every time she got a goal we'd get her a slurpee after. It worked and after her first goal, she was so excited and motivated by it that she improved a lot. It was so fun to see her so happy and proud of herself!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Kyndal! That is awesome! Ellie cracks me up too, Lydia just started to tell me GO when I am stopped at a red light. Ha ha. Silly girls.
ReplyDeleteGood job Kyndal! And good idea with the payment plan - money is a great motivator :) Elliette is so funny....we have backseat drivers in our house too.
