We had a marvelous couple of days visiting with cousins in Mountain View. We did this a few years back and it is one of the best weekends of the summer! We had planned to camp out but it was raining on the first day that we arrived. So we were not going to set up the tent. So the kids wanted to still feel like they were camping out and the Nelson's house has a great huge screened in porch, so the kids slept out there. It was perfect as they were really close, I was in the bedroom with the boys just inside the door from them. This was great!
We had fun taking turns driving the little tractor, climbing and playing chain saw! There is so much to explore and we love every minute of it!Stirling has very real tools, like his chainsaw and weed-wacker. He was kind to share some of his very special equipment.
Then we went out and rode the horses. This is something that my kids dream about all the time. I guess I didn't manage to get a picture of each of the kids on the horses, but they were all on them. They were led around the corral and the field with Doug in the lead. Even Marshall and Dawsyn having fun being led around!
Camellia and I went together for a ride around the field as well. It was really neat to be on a horse again, it has been a lot of years!
I was able to surprise the girls that evening with going to the presentation of Mary Poppins. We had seen it a few years ago and read a couple of the books. It was so fun to go and see it again! At the end of the show Elliette was beginning to get a headache and upset stomach. She ended up feeling really awful and throwing up on the way home. She slept lots and felt fine in the morning. That seemed to be the first migraine that she has ever had, but has now had a couple since. Poor kid!
Baylor didn't love to ride in the wagon, he would love to run all over himself but Marshall really loved to pull him around. It was really cute!
It was pretty special for the kids to see and play with these new kittens. I think that they were about a week old. There were 7 of them at first but the tomcat kept getting the babies so they were down to these 2. They were such cute little bundles and the kids took many turns cuddling them.
