We have done this hike before and it is a really great one. It is long and difficult enough for kids and has such a great reward at the top. Exactly what a good hike should be! There are 2 beautiful lakes, great view, rock climbing, rocks to throw into the water, everything that we could hope for.
Here is our fun this day!
I told the kids that I would pay them to jump into the water. They worked hard to get into the water and even were dunking their heads into the water. It was very cold. They did earn a trip out to get ice cream after though.
Marshall loves to throw rocks into the water. It is one of his favorite things in life. A simple pleasure. Well we had been throwing some rocks in and then went around to a different spot at the other side of the lake. He picked up a rock and threw it towards the water. He was actually a long way away from the water and hit a lady in the back of the head with a rock. We have frequently reviewed to only throw when next to the water and be sure there is not anyone in front of you. But he is only 4 and forgets frequently. I felt so awful that he had done this and tried to have him apologize. He then burst into tears and couldn't say anything. It was a crummy situation. Anyways, that was a less than fun part of this hike but memorable.
