Kyndal has made it! She has survived to turn 8 years old. Some days I wondered if we would make it to this point. Just kidding! She is really a great kid. She is funny and smart. She has a strong mind and likes to make decisions for herself. She is kind and good at looking after small people. She is very generous and tries to develop that talent frequently. She is such an amazing girl and there is no doubt that she is helping us to grow as parents. We sure love her in our family! Here are a few pictures of her birthday.
Kyndal sure is looking grown up these days.
She was particular about how she wanted her cake to look. She wanted white with 3 tiers. She wanted the candy canes out the top. We went searching for those silver balls that she wanted. It was fun to assemble the things that she had in her head.

Kyndal forfeited a party to instead get $50, a deal from her dad. So it was just a lunch having her cousins over and a cake. Pretty low key but nice.
As this is a big birthday for her, the big 8, she got to go on a special date with both Mommy and Daddy. We had a great time at the mall getting Kyndal ears pierced. She was very brave and didn't cry at all. She just said that it felt like her eyes were on fire for a second. She did so well! She had been looking forward to this for months! She got to pick out some earrings and a treat and then we headed out for dinner. She chose to go to Japanese Village. She wanted to go to the place where they set your food on fire. It was pretty fun as it is entertainment provided with your meal as they cook your food right in front of you, performing with flipping it into the air, setting it on fire, etc. It was a pretty good time. Kyndal didn't eat much, I think she was definitely more interested in the entertainment then the food. They also dressed her and Paul up in little Japanese clothes, with funny hats that looked like Japanese wigs, and sang a birthday song to them. It was such a great time. Then we picked up some Dairy Queen and drove by the temple to see it with the lights on. It was also a cold night and out on that drive there were some strange light effects in the sky. They could have been the northern lights, or else some reflections from other lights that shone up high through the cold night air. Either way we were very entertained by the beauty of the dark night and the time we got to spend together with our big girl celebrating her 8th birthday. It was a very special day!
