Wow, I totally forgot about Halloween. Actually we tried to skip it. Paul offered to pay the kids to eat candy in our basement with a Halloween movie and turn out the lights. They nearly wanted to do that until the day actually came with all of its excitement. So that day we had to figure out costumes. So here is how that went.
Baylor in the 'Mummy Loves Me' outfit, as cute as ever!
We looked up some awesome masks and went to work to make them. Actually maybe it was the day before that we made these as it took longer then I had anticipated (like all day!). It was with a number of cardboard boxes, hot glue, burned fingers, paint bottles, raiding my fabric stashes that these came together. A creative team effort! It was all super fun to do!
Dawsyn's costume was cool and fun to make but had some major design flaws. Firstly that she couldn't turn her head as it was quite a large heavy thing strapped to it. Then with the big tail pulling behind her, again pulling her head. We then put shoulder straps to help carry the weight. The tail was stepped on and pulled off her after a little while, which was good as she couldn't turn around at each house to come back down. It was funny and crazy. Good thing that it was, again, fun to make and looked awesome to start out with.
Elliette a bird as well. I love to see how the girls painted their masks and picked their outfits in totally different color schemes. It is often that Elliette wants to pick just what her big sister has or wants to do. I think that is the nature of a little sister, to want to be just like her big sister (except when the big sister is in trouble then she wants to butter-up her parents!) But I love to see what Elliette chooses by her own devices. She is such a personality and on Halloween she doesn't want to stop or wait up for anyone! She wants to run and go as fast as she can. She doesn't even want or eat that much candy, but she loves the excitement of it!
Marshall is the classic pumpkin! He was so scared and talked about the scary Halloween for a long time after. If there were any Halloween decorations that looked even a little bit spooky then he was not going to that house. He was cute and such a trooper, trying to keep up with his big sisters, but he was definitely not up for the spooky part of Halloween.
